A journey of Asian fantasy inspired by Sekiro, Hollow Knight and Katana Zero.

Nine Sols is a lore-rich, hand-drawn 2D action platformer featuring intense deflection-focused combat, immersive storytelling, and a unique Taopunk setting.

Explore the land once home to an ancient alien race, and follow a vengeful hero's quest to slay the 9 Sols, formidable rulers of this forsaken realm.

This game looks absolutely fantastic. I believe the crowdfunding campaign is about to end, but maybe you're in time to offer support if you're so inclined.

23 minutes of gameplay from the demo, with no commentary

Edit #2: Demo on Steam -- I don't think links to other stores are allowed anymore

Incredible art and fluid gameplay. Reminds me more of Sundered than Hollow Knight though.
Thanks for sharing.

Now I'm only hyped for three games:
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Dragon's Dogma 2
Nine Souls

:P

Also, question:

I think so, this crowdfunding campaign they're doing for Nine Sols is run through their site/shop too.

Seeing that the demo currently is, and once it's finished, the full game assumingly is going to be available over at the other place as well - couldn't this imply that it's actually only Devotion which (still) is too hot to handle for any platform, unless the platform wanted to risk pissing off all the CCP loyalists?

Or put differently, that the infamy is just associated with Devotion but not the company RedCandleGames itself. Some of the infamy obviously still rubs off on RedCandleGames, since they're the developer, but apparently not enough to rile up and anger the CCP loyalists to threaten Valve with a large scale boykott if the demo is not delisted/removed immediately.

Makes me wonder if GOG would consider carrying, not necessarily the demo, but the finished game in the future. Going by RedCandleGames' official statement 2 years ago the bridges actually don't seem to have been burned and they'd still be open to bring their future games (like Nine Sols) to GOG, if GOG would have them?
Seems to work for Valve - at least for the time being, maybe the CCP loyalists are going to raise a stink closer to release of the full game and force that to be delisted/removed - so it surely could for GOG too?
Thanks for the heads up, game looks great.

While the game play (mostly combat) didn't strike as anything amazing, the visuals and sound are great.
The introduction reminds me of Dust and Elysian Tail a lot, let's hope it has skippable dialogs.

I see some some nuances from Hollow Knight (dash), Dead Cells (combat and level design) and Mark of the Ninja (enemies).

Not sure about all the mixed combat mechanics right from the start, may make the game difficult to learn. Games like Hollow Knight introduce the mechanics slowly to make the player master the technique one at the time, before move to another. Going all out means that either the game is hard to learn or lacks depth and will throw bigger and more enemies at you, not diferent enemies. Just speculating here and hope I'm wrong cause the game looks so good.

Some quirks here and there but very interesting!!! Looking foward to the launch.

I hope it comes here at launch (I doubt it though), so maybe it's better to just get it directly from them there. :)

Well, as I wrote earlier it kind of depends if RedCandleGames as a whole or just Devotion is (still) considered "too hot to handle", doesn't it.
I'm willing to wait in any case. For Devotion to still being released on GOG at some time in the future as well, by the way. The CCP's current general secretary cannot remain in office forever, and he kind of is the main roadblock preventing Devotion from being distributed through all of the platforms after all.

Detention has been on Steam since early 2017. Devotion (2019) was targeted for removal due to the infamous the Easter egg. IGN has a 3-minute explainer for those not in the loop.

Thank you!

Can we stop cramming "punk" onto things that have nothing to do with being subversive towards authority figures?

It's a game about killing the rulers of the realm, that starts with the protagonist stopping a human* sacrifice. It couldn't possibly be more against authority figures.

But you can see how it's used as a hype word, nowadays.

Just like how RPG lost all its meaning, because everything is labled as an RPG. I mean, you can spend points in strenght, that's clearly an RPG!!!

Awesome RPG Elements! Haha, that's true.

Personally I care about gameplay mechanics and story.
If they're good, whatever what people call it imho, even if lables are useful for identifying styles. :)
