I downloaded Matilda Castilla back then before the website get this pretty. Hard as nail, but also quite good. Never tried anything else

cheers ! hard as nail but quite good actually sounds quite good! May matilda castilla ex now to see for myself!
EDIT: or well seeing as the EX was actually released commercially i gonna try the free base game ^^

Hydorah is an excellent Gradius type shooter up and well worth checking out. Can be pretty difficult though.

Just tested matilda castilla - it was fun! Not a revelation but for a free game pretty decent - might test hydorah as well. These games seem to ber excellent gap closers if you only want to play sth for 1hour and don't want to start sth "complex" and well also nice nostalgia feeling attached to them

I started Maldita Castilla and it's a fun Ghost'n Goblins clone. I will also try The Curse of Issyos asap.

Urban Terror (still alive)

with its WAN component Doomseeker (you need [url=https://www.gog.com/game/the_ultimate_doom]doom or doom2 wad files though); I once made Blood public server with it.(there is a wad conversion); recommend Brutal Doom, Real Guns Advanced Refined or DoomZ (yes, survival&building) online servers.
